While Ray J had had multiple ideations, he admitted that this was his first attempt.

Throughout his fast-paced and successful career, there’s just not enough time to process it all, the artist shared, adding that he just might “fall into either a depression inside of a trophy room or trying to reach for something that will meet you there.”

Ray J and Pastor Jamal Bryant Were at Odds for Days

After the interview was recorded, it appears that Ray J had immediate regrets. Whether it was specifically the content or something else, he didn’t want the interview made public.

“Yo, I got nothing but love for Pastor Bryant. Shoutout to Jamal Bryant…but if y’all play that interview, somebody getting snatched off the pulpit,” the artist said at the time. “Don’t play the interview, it’s not cleared, it’s out of bounds. Me and Pastor Bryant need to talk because the way I was treated was dirty and illegal.”

Bryant was apparently surprised by Ray J’s posts and accusations. “It was both surprising and disheartening to wake up to unfounded threats and baseless accusations directed at me,” Bryant said. “As part of our commitment to honest dialogue, we ensured that specific comments with potential legal ramifications were edited out of the interview to safeguard the best interest of a brother beloved.”

After a few days of apparent reflection, Ray J had a change of heart and posted an apology to Bryant.

“PASTOR BRYANT! I take full accountability for my words!,” said Ray J. “I apologize to you and the whole church community! What I did might be unforgivable but I still want you to know that I’m sorry and it was not ok what I did.”

Ray J said he wanted to continue a friendship with the pastor and to even seek out counsel. “I would love to pray with you and hopefully we can work this out and maybe… just maybe you can help me moving forward,” Ray J said in his post. “I’m human and I made a big mistake with this one.”

He further recognized that his actions were wrong toward anyone, especially a pastor. “It’s not okay,” he said. “Speaking that kind of language to a pastor is unbelievable, it’s uncalled for, it’s disrespectful, it’s distasteful, it’s disgraceful in every sense.”
