Prayers for Youth (cont.)
6. Money
Because the love of money is a root of all evil (1 Timothy 6:10), I pray that God helps teens view money as a great resource for Kingdom purposes. May God grant them contentment in plenty or when poor, because of their richness in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19; Matthew 6:24; Ecclesiastes 5:10; Hebrews 13:5)
7. Submission and Honor
Next up in our prayers for youth… Let’s pray that this generation submits to Christ and to authority figures. May God give them grace to love, respect, and honor parents, teachers, pastors, and governing officials. (Ephesians 6:2-3; Hebrews 13:17; Mark 12:17)
8. Spiritual Growth
I pray that God nurtures the soil of young people’s hearts. May he help them grow in the knowledge and grace of Jesus Christ. Then I also pray for more passionate workers for the harvest of youth ministry. (Luke 2:52; Galatians 2:20; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 3:16)
9. Discernment
I ask God to give teenagers knowledge of the truth of God. Kids need spiritual eyes to see so the enemy won’t deceive them. So I pray they can discern between teachings of the Living God and those of false gods or prophets. (1 Timothy 3:9; 2 Corinthians 2:11; John 17:17; Ephesians 6:14)
10. Hope
Finally, pray that God helps teenagers take every thought captive for Christ. In prayers for youth, ask God to fill every young person with resurrection hope. Ask him to protect their minds and hearts from hopelessness. May God also help students cling to Christ and soak up his strength so they can offer hope to others. (Galatians 6:9; Ephesians 6:13; Philippians 4:8; 2 Timothy 2:13; Hebrews 10:23; 1 Peter 5:8-9)
